Microsoft is set to introduce autonomous AI agents that can carry out complex actions with minimal human input. These AI agents will be available in Copilot Studio, a low- or no-code AI development platform, starting with a public beta at Microsoft’s Ignite conference on November 19. Additionally, pre-built agents will be rolled out to Dynamics 365 apps in the coming months.
Automating Complex Business Processes
Businesses often face challenges in automating multi-step processes that require decision-making and coordination across various systems and data sources. Manual intervention is typically required, leading to inefficiencies and increased costs. Autonomous AI agents can address this issue by independently executing complex tasks, such as responding to customer inquiries, processing orders, or managing cases, without constant human supervision.
Introducing Autonomous AI Agents
Microsoft’s autonomous AI agents are designed to be triggered by events and can perform a range of actions autonomously. These agents can be created using a no-code graphical interface in Copilot Studio, making them accessible to users without programming expertise. Once published, the agents can be accessed through various channels, including Microsoft’s Copilot AI assistant, websites, or applications.
To mitigate potential issues like hallucinations (AI agents generating incorrect or nonsensical outputs), Microsoft has implemented safeguards. For example, agents created for Dynamics 365 will require human approval before carrying out certain actions, and a viewable record of an agent’s actions and decision-making process will be maintained.
